I can't believe it has been SIX YEARS!

It was SIX years ago today that I had my cancer surgery.  I just went back in my blog to the 2008 archives and read my cancer journey.  The blog journey starts on March 10, 2008.  I read through most of it.  I cried a lot in it.  I also went and read all the comments.  I had the best support team ever.

Here is the big question I want to answer for everyone:

What has CANCER done for ME?

I know that sounds odd but CANCER did a lot for me.

1.  It made me a stronger person today.
2.  It made me open my eyes and appreciate everything around me.
3.  It showed me that a good attitude will help you overcome a lot of things.
4.  It showed my my need for the Lord.
5.  It made my Faith stronger.
6.  It gave me the need to help others fighting this terrible disease.
7.  It showed me at I am a leader.
8.  It gave me the will to fight no matter what.

I now stay very active in many different things.  Here is some of the things I do to keep busy:

1.  Work part time in the cafeteria's in our public schools.
2.  Sell Stampin Up and have classes in my house for rubber stamping
3.  Teach Sunday School to 3rd & 4th grade children.
4.  Director of VBS at my church.
5.  Sit on the Butler County Board for the American Cancer Society
6.  Have a team in our local Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society and also serve on the committee.
7.  Reach to Recovery volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

These are all passions of mine.  I love staying busy and being active.  I can say that most days I feel great but still have some side effects of the chemo and cancer journey.  That's okay!!!!  I am alive and living my life.  What better thing can a girl ask for?

I have a wonderful family and the greatest friends anyone can ask for.  I am a very blessed individual and give thanks for that daily.

Have a blessed day!!!

Sorry I have been Away!

Time has gotten away from me once again.  I have been busy with Relay for  Life stuff, work and some church stuff.  My oh My.....it's that time of year.
I will share a little something tonight.  It is a little treat box made with DSP and the new scalloped tag punch.  I actually saw it on Pinterest....don't you just love Pinterest?  It has so many ideas.  Anyway I tried the little box and loved it.

I also used the Petite Petals stamp set and punch along with the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and punch.  It sure make a cute little gift bag/box for candy or a little surprise.

I hope you enjoy the little box.  You can always check out my Pinterest.  My username is ritaholmes or you can find me through FB as Rita Weigel Holmes.

Have a great weekend!

Quick and Easy

That is what this card is all about.....being quick and easy.  This is one of the cards from my card class.  I was actually showing the Adorning Elements Dies and Embossing Folders and how well they compliment each other.  This is also a great way to use up some scrap DSP (Designer Series Papers) which is 12x12 paper printed on both sides.  I hope you enjoy the card and keep coming back to my blog to visit.

Have a Blessed Day!

A look into my Open House

I just had my Open House to debut my new business this last Thursday.  It was fun getting ready for and I was excited to start a new journey.
Here are some pictures before the Open House started.  The first one is my display table.  Didn't have to use a big table since I don't have a lot of stock built up yet.

Due to the fact that I have a small house I couldn't keep everything together.  Here is how I set up my catalogs and order forms.  Kept them out of the way but had easy access.

Of course we can't forget about a Make N Take table.  It was across from the catalogs.  Everything was really handy and had directions typed up (in a large font) to help with making the card.

What can't we forget?.....Snacks!!!  I kept it very casual as to not overwhelm the guests or me (trying to get them done).

The last picture is of my Make N Take.  I actually cased this idea off Pinterest.  I don't remember where I found it but I liked the idea.  I used what paper I had the most of but I think it would be great in any color.  It was fast and simple.  No one had to get overwhelmed doing it.

Hope you enjoyed the little trip to my Open House.  I so much appreciate everyone that got to come out to it.  It was nice seeing everyone!
